FICs are classified under two residency statuses in Vietnam: resident (typically holding a residence card valid for >= 12 months) and non-resident. The residency status affects the designated beneficiary account type and the applicable transaction procedures

If a valid residence card is not submitted, TCBS will default the client’s status to non-resident, which means the customer may only use an Indirect Investment Capital Account (IICA)

No. Non-resident clients only credit funds to their securities account from an Indirect Investment Capital Account (IICA). Funds cannot be transferred from a regular Current Account, as is allowed for resident clients.

Effective June 10, 2025, TCBS introduced an online feature on the TCInvest platform, allowing FICs to directly update their residency status.
Clients are encouraged to log into TCInvest and submit the relevant documentation (e.g., residence card) to ensure accurate classification and uninterrupted service.

Clients must initiate an online transfer from the Securities Account to the Current Account, and then visit a TCB branch to complete the required documents for this withdrawal.

From July 1, 2025 onwards: The current residency status will be displayed under TCInvest > Account Management > Personal Information.

Currently, per foreign exchange regulations and system constraints, IA linkages between a Current Account (CA) and a Securities Account (SA) are not supported for foreign indivual clients. Clients must manually follow TCB’s procedures for transfer money in/out between CA and SA.
